Godaddy’s CEO Bob Parsons Shoots Elephant Video
Founder And CEO of GoDaddy Shoots And Kills Elephant in Zimbabwe Video
Godaddy .com CEO and founder Bob Parsons is making Big news throughout the Internet marketing community and social media outlets for a video showing him shooting an elephant in Zimbabwe posted on his blog.
Now many companies and organizations no longer want to do business with Godaddy.
PETA an animal rights group has already closed its account with GoDaddy and is is Leading the charge asking others to follow suit.
No to long after I heard the news about Godaddy’s CEO Bob Parsons, I received an email from another popular company, which I’ve been doing business with NameCheap.com only because they are cheaper and offer more such as free private domain name registration and free SSL certificates.
Now I’m thinking of transferring all my domain name’s from Godaddy to NameCheap.com
I have been told though, from other Internet business owners that Godaddy doesn’t like it when you try to transfer a domain name and the transaction takes a while.
My opinion, if they try something dirty by postponing domain name transfers for a long length of time, it will create more damage to Godaddy’s CEO Bob Parsons and how he runs his company.
Here’s the email I received from NameCheap.com

Hi Carl,
It’s not often that we would disagree publicly with a competitor, but we at Namecheap are very disturbed by this video of a competitor killing an elephant for sport. Check out the ABC News Report (Warning: Very Graphic!)
We’ve decided to throw our support behind our Elephant friends by offering domain transfers at a price where we actually lose money.
Show your protest by saying BYEBYEGD again and transfer your domains to Namecheap for $4.99 for the next 24 hours through 11:59pm EST on 3/31/11 (limit 10 per user, valid for all com/net/org domains).
On top of that, we’ll donate $1 for each transfer to Save The Elephants at http://www.savetheelephants.org/
Use coupon code BYEBYEGD and let’s help the Elephants together!
Regards,
Team Namecheap

UPDATE:
Bob Parsons Reply from his blog
People commenting on the elephant hunt should understand the details of dynamics in rural southern African regions. The day that the meat value of wildlife exceeds the tourism value of wildlife, wildlife will disappear. Like it or not, legal hunting brings millions of dollars in conservation areas. I do not hunt but understand the role of hunting in conservation. Why is that a legal hunt gets so many people mad but some Orgs raise millions of dollars in the name of conservation and we never see these dollars getting to the conservation areas. I should know, we work in these areas.

Am appalled at the fact that Bob Parsons would commit such act. I am glad I am not a customer. Will never buy anything from GoDaddy. Their customer service is below par anyway. Thanks for a great article.

I fail to see the problem – The elephants were causing damage to crops and causing people to go hungry. Not only that, its not like the just left the elephant there to rot in the sun – they butchered and ATE it, feeding a whole hell of a lot of people. This wasn’t some ivory harvest. Animal cruelty is one thing, but when animal rights activists and bleeding heart liberals go so far as to assassinate someones character for valuing HUMAN life over any animals, they need to re evaluate their position on the food chain. Just because plants don’t scream when you kill them, doesn’t mean they aren’t alive.

When I heard about this event i was floored! How could anyone harm an elephant, well any animal for that matter. The reasons why he did it are not valid what so ever and I canelled my account with GodDaddy. I found an amazing promotion from Hostpapa. They will donate $5 to Save the Elephants!
I used the coupon code “elephant” and got 3 months free hosting.
I took my business else where.
