How Google Rate Links From Twitter and Facebook

By Carl Kmetz On January 19, 2010 Under SEO - Search Engine Optimization

How Does Google Rate Links From Sites Like Twitter and Facebook?

Links from relevant and important websites have always been a great way to get traffic and acceptance for a website in Google. So how doe’s Google really rate links from new platforms like Twitter and Facebook to a website?

In this New Video by Matt Cutts, head of Google’s webspam team, answers this question and more.

He brought up a good point in this video. Many people on Facebook has their privacy settings set to “Private” but if you want Google to crawl your FB profile then you should have it set to “Public”

Another interesting thing that Matt said was, a link back to your site from a .gov (Goverment Site) or .edu (Education Site) Does Not carry more weight and will not boost your rankings.

Thank’s Matt for clarifying this up for us.

Carl Kmetz.
